Here is a somewhat interesting fact about the musketeers. While most media shows them engaged in swordplay as they were musketeers the main weapon is actually a musket and not a sword. So in a way the cap can still work after all a musket has a bladed end and shots one shot and needs some wait time to fired again.
Thanks for helping this blog retain its remit to inform as well as entertain. I wonder what use those muskets would be once all their balls have been fired off :)

I would think there is no more need for it and they would need some new equipment.
